      • Write about your work experience from internship (1 continuous year no need to explains each speciality separate) and till date every work you have done.
      • If you have taken a gap in between mention the reason clearly and keep it in appropriate subsection category.
      • If it’s a leave, we need to explain why we took it very clearly.
      • Make sure the start date and end dates are back-to-back, for example if you
finished internship on 26/07/2022, the next time period should start from the
        27/07/2022 onwards.

application following which you will be sent the GMC registration. If they need any additional
    documents GMC will contact you.
Speed up your GMC registration

Update your designated body
  • Go to GMC online › select no designated body ›confirm no connection

  • When you will start working in the UK, you ll update your designated body again which will be your trust
  • Note: Select currently working outside the UK OR Currently not working, whichever applies to you.
  • GMC asks everyone (about 4 weeks after registration) to update the designated body. This is a routine process and nothing to be worried about. A designated body is mostly an NHS trust that employs you, and that is responsible for your annual appraisal and revalidation with the GMC (which are also routine in UK and include demonstrating your professional development)

According to the General Medical Council (GMC) guidelines, if you have obtained GMC registration but choose not to work in the UK for a period (3-4 years in your case), you can still maintain your registration by renewing it periodically. Here’s what you need to know:

Renewal:

  1. You can renew your GMC registration annually, even if you’re not practicing in the UK.
  2. You’ll need to meet the GMC’s continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.
  3. You’ll also need to pay the annual retention fee.

Revalidation:

  1. Revalidation is the process of demonstrating your fitness to practice every 5 years.
  2. If you’re not practicing in the UK, you’ll need to provide evidence of CPD and adherence to GMC standards.
  3. You may need to undergo a peer review or assessment.

GMC Registration Status:

  1. Your registration will remain active, but you’ll be listed as “not practicing” in the UK.
  2. You won’t be required to demonstrate UK-based practice for revalidation.

Important Notes:

  1. GMC registration can be withdrawn if you fail to renew or pay fees.
  2. If you’re absent from UK practice for an extended period (> 5 years), you may need to undergo additional assessments or training.
  3. GMC guidelines can change, so it’s essential to stay updated.

To confirm, you can:

  1. Visit the GMC website ((link unavailable))
  2. Contact GMC Customer Services (+44 0161 923 6602)
  3. Consult with a GMC registration specialist

By renewing your registration periodically and meeting GMC requirements, you can maintain your license and return to practice in the UK after 3-4 years.

By any chance does it matter if I am not doing a clinical Job, instead doing an online clinical triage job involving Remote patient monitoring? would this affect my GMC registration process or chances of securing a job in the UK in the future?

Clinical attachment is solely to create network, inside information regarding job vacancy, and gather required competencies, audit, teaching, etc. If you can secure job without that by having better contact or portfolio then you don’t need to clinical attachment.

Hello, I recently passed the PLAB 2 exam and applied for GMC registration. A week later, I received an email requesting additional documentation. They asked me to clarify details about my internship end date due to a discrepancy between my application and my postgraduate work experience. I realized I made an error in listing the internship details in the Application and mistakenly included my residency job in the public sector as part of my internship instead of just writing it in the professional experience section. Could this error affect my chances of approval with the GMC?

Hi guys,

Does anyone know how long is taking nowadays to get the GMC Registration after submitting all the required info?
