My experience of Passing Plab 2 in 2nd attempt

:arrow_left: PLAB 2 Personal Experience

Hello fellows,
I recently passed my Plab 2 exam in the 2nd attempt. I failed my first attempt by 1 station.

1st Experience:
I did self study for 2 months then took online academy sessions for 15 days. after that I had 2 Months to revise the material.

Mistakes I made:
1: Not taking a break at all.
2: Doing my Travel arrangements in between my preparation
3: Focusing more on the history than on the management
4: Spending more time on making notes than memorizing notes
5: Not doing recalls
6: Not doing Simman everyday
7: Not doing prescription earlier in my preparation

2nd Experience:
My result came about a month after my exam so I had forgotten a lot of things.
I analyzed myself, I lacked a lot in management. So, I needed time to go through the material again. I didn’t book my exam immediately. I took some time off. Thought about my lacking and how much time would I need to go through the material and do practices.

What I did:
1: Took Lovaan classes and edited my notes
2: Made a list of topics and tallied them with the recalls
3: Made short notes of all the topics including hx, counselling, combined and prescription
4: Did prescription everyday
5: Revised Managements
6: This time I couldn’t practice much, But since I had practiced a lot previously I still had the flow. But I wouldn’t recommend this.
7: I mostly did online practice so I tried to do face to face practice with my housemates in the UK. I only went 8 days before the exam.

Advise:
1: Make a group of 3 people who are motivated and are willing to help each other.
2: Do practices in the form of a conversation but don’t waste time. Don’t act unnecessarily
3: Give genuine feedback based on IPS, HX points and management. And not just pointing out what the other person has missed.
4: Make a schedule and try to follow it.
5: Make a list of all the topics and tally them with recalls. It’s very important that you know about all the topics so you don’t get overwhelmed when you see recalls.
6: Try making your own notes, you only remember what you have written
7: Make an index of the topics so you know where you find a particular topic.
8: Take 1 study material and focus on that. don’t use multiple. if you choose to study from different then make your own notes and at the end revise from them.
9: Do Simman and prescriptions everyday
10: Don’t leave counselling, combined and Teaching at the last days.

Best of Luck guys
It’s a long read. although I have passed the exam I am still not sure how to study for this exam. So I am only sharing what I did.

Thank you.
