Where you are
You are an FY2 in A&E.

Who the patient is
Mr. John Smith, aged 50, has been diagnosed with DVT and is in severe pain.

What you must do
Prescribe:
Rivaroxaban
Amlodipine 10mg OD PO
Aspirin 75mg OD PO

Special Note
None

Shortcut:

  1. Regular: Rivaroxaban: 15 mg PO BD
    Additional information: Change dose to 20 mg PO OD after 21 days
  2. Hold Aspirin (?-write or skip)

Explanation:
So for the treatment of DVT:
Rivaroxaban 15 mg BD is for initial 21 days. Followed by Rivaroxaban 20 mg OD as maintenance.
Write rivaroxaban in 15 mg BD with start and stop date based on 21 days.
In Additional information: change dose to 20 mg OD after 21 days.
(You ll write rivaroxaban in one box only this way , no need to write twice or more)

Note: Hold aspirin while on Rivaroxaban.
