Mrs. Maria Smith, aged 63, weight 60, had a fall today. She injured herself without fracture.Regular medication
Calchichew, Amlodipine 10 mg.Must do
VTE risk assessment has been done and give anticoagulant.Special note
Patient is allergic to penicillin and had rash.
Shortcut:
- Regular: Daleparin 5000 U SC OD 7 days
Additional information: Review after 7 days - Regular: Amlodipine 10mg PO
- Regular: Calcichew 1 Tablet PO
If it is only fall and no fracture prescribe as below :
Dalteparin 5000 iu S/C once every 24 hours for 7 days
Additional info: re-assess the need for continuation after 7 days

According to CKS duration of prophylaxis for VTE in trauma is minimum of 7 days.
The actual treatment duration depends on patient recovery and regaining mobility.
So the safest way of prescribing is as mentioned above.
