PLAB 2 Personal Experience
Good evening fellow PLABers,
First of all, I’m grateful to Allah for his many blessings and mercy. I took the PLAB 2 exam at the end of last April and my result came out today and Alhamdulilah, I passed.
This community is a very beautiful and helpful community and I would like to thank each and every one of you for your valuable contributions.
I prepared for the exam in 3 months without joining an academy. I’m here to tell you my journey so that you can benefit from my experience and to tell you that joining an academy isn’t a must.
I prepared for the exam in 3 months. I had 2 steady and regular partners who I practiced the scenarios with. We mainly studied from the all days notes and practiced doing the scenarios in the full 8 minutes. We also used the Mo Shoby notes for some of the management scenarios. We had Ups also opened and Newaneka and would compare the different management of each and go with the best one.
I signed up for 2 mocks with the DSR academy and they were helpful in telling me my weaknesses. One of the mocks was with access to the mannequins and I had a look around them for 2 hours and just watched online videos for the rest and simman.
We did a prescription every day and that was helpful but even then, I failed it in the actual exam because I didn’t find the sticker with the patients’ info on it and ended up wasting a lot of time.
Focus on your IPS skills and try to be natural in there. Don’t just learn these stupid catch phrases and go in because every other candidate will say the same thing and they don’t want that kind of scripted behavior.
We also did the Dr lovaan masterclass ( We watched the offline videos that were circulating) and honestly he was very helpful and I would highly recommend him.
In the last month before the exam we started doing the recalls.
Now coming to the academy part, friends who joined samson said they benefited more from the other candidates than the actual academy itself. It’s a gamble that I took not to join as its expensive, and Alhamdulilah it paid off. 3 of my fellow colleagues did samson and they also passed so it’s really up to you how to proceed with this.
If you have any inquires Ill be glad to help out and I wish you all the best of luck
