PLAB 2 Personal Experience
I honestly did not believe that I would be writing this post. But things did turn out well for me and I was able to clear my PLAB 2.
My exam was on 26th July and I recently got my results. Based on my experience with the exam, I would like to share a few tips that I feel can help one clear the exam :
-
Make sure to read the management very carefully. I know a lot of emphasis is placed on interpersonal skills but drawing from my experience I would suggest extra focus on managing cases.
-
Focus on your mock feedbacks and re- read the stations based on this feedback. I would in fact say do not pay attention to passing/failing a mock but improve your approach based on the feedback.
-
Ive read a lot of varied opinions on this but I would say choose one academy/one source and build your approach based on that source only. This will allow you to be more thorough in your approach especially for routine cases.
-
Also practice prescription and SIMMAN stations as much as you can and be thorough with them because these are scoring stations and can make your exam. This includes teaching stations as well.
-
Teaching stations do depend a lot on your IPS so make sure you can incorporate an element of that into your approach.
-
Make a note of possible concerns that patients can bring up so that you feel better equipped on exam day
-
Lastly, I would say confidence on exam day is key. Treat each station as a new patient encounter and youll be fine.
All the best to everyone with exams in the coming weeks. If youre looking for any sort of guidance/help, feel free to leave a comment under this thread and I willl try to help you out:)
